How to enter flash mode
Using mtkclient
Turn off the phone, start mtkclient, attach usb cable. Works without battery too.
Using spflashtool
spflashtool for linux
Use version 5.2032.00, later versions no longer work with MT6572.
Using recovery
Seems that there is no button combination to enter recovery during boot. It's possible to enter recovery by issuing adb reboot recovery
command. However, recovery is locked and only accepts signed archives.
To install unlocked recovery:
- Root the phone with framaroot, use Barahir exploit.
- Use rashr to install new recovery, such as TWRP (use recovery image specially built for this phone).
Installation
Use pmbootstrap to build your own installation image.
$ pmbootstrap init
$ pmbootstrap install --fde
