How to enter flash mode

  • We need to flash using TWRP instead of fastboot so the boot.img can be patched with the amonet exploit.
  • Holding vol down + power gets you into TWRP. From TWRP you can flash PMOS as a recovery zip using the adb sideload method.
  • The default recovery.zip generated by pmbootstrap flashes into the boot partition, not the boot_x partition, which is what is needed for this device. The recovery zip file has to be manually edited to replace boot with boot_x in chroot/install_options and chroot_bin/pmos_install_functions.

Installation

  • pmbootstrap install --android-recovery-zip to generate the recovery zip
  • Unpack the zip file and modify line 5 of chroot/install_options and lines 73 and 74 of chroot/bin/pmos_install_functions to replace boot with boot_x.
  • Repack the zip file and boot the device to TWRP
  • Connect the device to the PC via USB and flash the recovery zip with adb sideload recovery.zip.
