Preparation

Device needs to be unlocked before being able to flash using Unlock tool, at this time still available from Asus website

How to enter flash mode

boot with both "power" + "vol. down" buttons held down

Installation

Follow the instructions in [installation guide]. For now, please select xfce4 or mate as user interface in pmbootstrap init, as the other UIs fail at the moment

Flashing with "pmbootstrap flasher flash_rootfs --partition userdata" flashes the rootfs to the userdata partition leaving the most free space available.

When using Xfce4, please see the [wiki entry] to make it more usable

For Mate, I personally find installing mate-tweak (apk add mate-tweak) and setting HiDPI to HiDPI (instead of auto) works really well

Working so far:

  • Boots (downstream kernel 3.4.104)
  • USB Network
  • Display
  • WiFi (with package firmware-aosp-broadcom-wlan)
  • Xfce4 / Mate UI
  • Dock keyboard
  • Dock USB port

Not working:

  • Touchscreen
  • Dock touchpad
  • Bluetooth (seems to work using brcm-patchram and firmware, needs further testing)
  • Rotation
  • Probably stuff I haven't tested or noticed yet
