How to enter flash mode
See instructions for HTC_One_V_(htc-primou). They're the same for this device. Note that you may need to disable "fast boot" (not to be confused with fastboot) in settings.
Installation
To install postmarketOS, you will need an SD card inserted in the device, as the phone's partitions are too small to fit everything.
- Unlock the bootloader. You can do this by visiting htcdev.com
- Install rootfs on the SD card:
pmbootstrap install --sdcard /dev/your_card
- Enter flash mode: with the device turned off, hold the volume down and power button. Once the menu shows up, navigate to "Fastboot" with the volume keys and then select it by pressing the power button.
- You can now proceed flashing postmarketOS as described in Installation/Using pmbootstrap
Flashing the kernel to the boot partition is currently untested. It's possible to use pmbootstrap flasher boot to boot the kernel.
Notes
Kernel
GCC 10
I initially attempted to build the kernel with GCC 10. This worked fine, however the phone would immediately reboot after booting the kernel, so I switched to GCC 6 which after some additional tweaks got me into Xfce.
Issues
Device reboots by itself after a few minutes. Probably some watchdog that needs to be fed.
User Interfaces
I initially attempted to start Weston. It did not start. Xfce4 started just fine, however note that it takes a while to start and the screen will turn black twice.
