Category:Set-top box
A set-top box (STB), also known as a cable box, receiver, or in the past, a television decoder, acts as a specialized information processing device.
These traditional type of STBs come equipped with a TV-tuner input and generate output for a television set or similar display devices.
These traditional types function by taking in an external signal, transforming that signal into content that can be visually presented on a display screen. These devices are typically found in various television systems such as cable, satellite, and over-the-air systems, in addition to other uses.
There are also Android TV boxes which are the new type of STBs. They may not have the TV-tuner input because the main purpose of them is for watching both online and offline media. They are basically a Single Board Computer (SBC) with a case and without GPIO.
