Introduction

Also known as the Galaxy S4 LTE-A, this phone was only avalible from select carriers in Asia, Europe, and Oceania. It looks identical to any other S4 on the outside, some have text that says "LTE+" printed on the back. The device codename appears to be "KS rev 01" Could this be a reference to the Galaxy S5? Also see #Similar devices.

  • Madhaxbro (Notes: GT-I9506, runs lk2nd + TouchWiz Android. Ready for testing. Boots lk2nd without porting. The SoC is mainline. Wrote the Wiki page and ported lk2nd. Classic design. Hot SoC. Could run mainline some day.)

Firmware

Outdated firmware

Only some carriers ever pushed the latest update. Flashing a different CSC for the same region works fine and should not impact network compatibility.

Compatibility and repairs

Parts do appear to be interchangeable between it and regular S4/S4 Active variants. More testing and a list of possible components are needed, not only for this device. Like usual with Samsung, this can be a bit messy.

Packages

  • heimdall Tool for dealing with Samsung's Odin protocol. Used to install firmware.
