This is a follow-up to wiki#69, and in its final form will likely reside on Help:Device Page

Chipset names

In order to keep pages consistent, chipset names in device infoboxes should follow the following format (colors added for demonstration purposes):

  • <Manufacturer> <Series name> <Model name> <Optional suffix> (<Codename>) , for chipsets with a model name and codename (most Qualcomm Snapdragon chips - for example, Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916))
  • <Manufacturer> <Series name> <Model name> <Optional suffix> or <Manufacturer> <Model name> <Optional suffix>, for chipsets with only a model name (Exynos chips, Broadcom chips etc. - for example, Samsung Exynos 4412 Quad, Broadcom BCM23550)

The <Optional suffix> field is used only for manufacturer-provided suffixes - for example, Exynos chips often have suffixes like "Dual", "Quad" or "Octa" after the model name (as seen in the Samsung Exynos 4412 Quad example above).

Notes

  • Exynos chips often have a market name like "Exynos 4", "Exynos 5" besides their model number; the number is omitted here in favor of the full model number.
