Technical details
- downstream device tree
Vendor U-Boot
- Ethernet/TFTP works
- USB works on the right port but not on the left, and it's slow
Disassembly
- Remove the bottom cover (4 philips screws)
- Unscrew the board (4 hex screws)
- gently lift the board out of the enclosure, starting from the side with the Ethernet and HDMI ports
- disconnect the antenna
Chips
- Realtek RTL8188ETV: USB 2.4 GHz WLAN
- Ricoh RN5T618M: PMIC
- Silicon Image SiI9293: HDMI Receiver
- GL852G: USB 2.0 MTT Hub Controller
- PPT PM44-11BP: Ethernet magnetics
- ICPlus IP101A: 100 Mbit/s Ethernet PHY
- Fairchild FM24C08A: I²C EEPROM
- Fremont FT24C04A: I²C EEPROM (near the HDMI input port, probably EDID)
- Chipown AP2420: step-down converter, handles 5V to 3.3V conversion
HDMI video input
The special feature of the Fernsehfee 3.0 is the HDMI input port.
- Silicon Image (now Lattice) SiI9293 HDMI Receiver (datasheet, downstream driver, upstream sii9234 driver)
- DVIN pins, VDIN block (downstream glue, driver)
- Canvas block for video frame buffer assignment (downstream driver, upstream driver)
- GE2D block for post-processing, e.g. color conversion
- downstream amvideocap driver to tie it all together
- encoding appears to happen in the VDEC unit and requires special firmware ("microcode")
